Photo caption: Jessica shares her journey navigating HAE on Lifetime's The Balancing Act
Takeda recently partnered with The Balancing Act morning show on Lifetime to bring real patient experiences to the forefront—an effort that reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to raising awareness of this rare condition and elevating the voices of those living with Hereditary Angioedema (HAE). The newly released segment, hosted by Olga Villaverde and Montel Williams, offers viewers a look at the unpredictability of HAE and the profound impact it can have on daily life.
In the segment, Jessica shares her journey navigating HAE. During filming she says, “By the time I was transitioning to college, I kept having abdominal attacks…I would end up at the hospital for days at a time, on medications and missing school. I remember one time in college my lip began to swell up and that was really scary because I know that it could lead to my airway closing up and I did not want to have to get a tube down my throat.” Stories like hers underscore the urgent need for broader awareness, early detection and compassionate support.
Takeda’s collaboration with The Balancing Act brings real-world HAE perspectives like Jessica’s to a national audience with the aim of helping people better understand this rare and debilitating condition. Across social media and other online spaces, the segment helps break through misunderstanding and stigma while spotlighting the resilience of the HAE community.
